O’s Notes: Club d’Elf makes modern club music or ’trance music’ according to leader, bassist Mike Rivard. They’ve been jammin’ at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA bimonthly since 1998. The band morphs into different configurations continually, playing creative music that we term a jam session. Rivard’s punchy bass lines are the central element that sparks energy for the rest of the band and the audience.“Night Sparkles“is the best we’ve encountered from Club d’Elf to date, an energizing live set December 16, 2011. David Tronzo (g), Paul Schultheis (keys), Vicente Lebron (congas, perc), Dean Johnston (d) and guests Moussa Traore (djembe #3-6) and Leo Blanco (melodica #6) joined Rivard (b, sintir) for this night to remember.
