O’s Notes: Bassist David Finck serves up a taste of modern jazz, ballads and a taste of bossa nova on Bassic Instinct leading a polished band over thirteen selections. Guest artists are plentiful making a fresh, engaging session. They open with the title track featuring saxophonist Andy Snitzer. Téka Penteriche and Trist Curless lead the vocals on “Bateu, Levou/Who’s Wrong Or Right” with Finck delivering one of several strong solos. We also enjoyed “Joy” and “So What” featuring vocalist Kelly Mittleman and Snitzer.
