O’s Notes: Tomorrow Is The Question! (1959) and Something Else! (1958) are landmark albums featuring alto saxophonist Ornette Coleman. Don Cherry (t) plays on both albums with bassists Percy Heath or Red Mitchell and Shelly Manne (d) on Tomorrow… Walter Norris (p), Don Payne (b) and Billy Higgins play on Somthing… These are all Coleman originals and his brilliance as a composer and a player are evident. We had the immense pleasure of enjoying this 70th Anniversary Contemporary Records Deluxe Set on 180-gram vinyl and on CD. While the sound and convenience of the CD was excellent, the warmth and depth of the sound stage of the vinyl was impeccable. This is a must have set in either format.
