O’s Notes: Saxophonist Dan Pratt and Pianist Michael Eckroth lead The Relay with Matt Clohesy (b) and Allan Mednard (d), a self-titled showcase for the original compositions of the co-leaders. We liked “One Right”, “Song Of Babes”, “Spirit Walk” and “Lost In Brazil”. The sole cover is a sweet take on “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”. Pratt’s passionate melodies stand out across these nine selections in a promising debut.
