O’s Notes: Brandon Sanders got a late start with his drumming career but is on a roll with his third album as a leader in three years. He focuses on bringing the “feel good” element to the mix. That sometimes means playing less so that the melody comes through loud and clear as on “Soul Eyes”. The music on his latest release certainly makes a Lasting Impression, with strong performances from Stacey Dillard (t-sax), Eric Scott Reed (p), and Warren Wolf (vibes). Jazzmeia Horn returns to the band from Sanders debut album adding two vocal selections, notably “Until You Come Back To Me” including guest artists Ameen Saleem (b) and Tyler Bullock (p).
