O’s Notes: :beta Collective is an evolving jazz fusion band with Brad Wagner (s-sax, t-sax, b-cl), Chris Coles (a-sax, t-sax), Caleb Smith (tb), Theron Brown (keys), Aiden Plank (b), Anthony Taddeo (d), Will Wedmedyk (vibes), Joel Negus (synths) and leader, guitarist, composer Dan Bruce. Time To Mind The Mystics is their latest release and we highly recommend it. There is a good mix of tempos, from the racy title track to the more relaxed “Blueprint”. There’s a Latin vibe on “Insignificance”, and suspense on “Slant”. And those are just the first four selections! The second half is equally good especially “Not Knowing”.
