O’s Notes: One of the finest jazz bassists outside of New York is Baltimore’s Phil Ravita. He leads a tight band with Greg Small (p), Mark Leppo (vibes, congas), and Nucleo Vega (d). Vocalist Deidre Jennings sings passionately on “Black Coffee” & “Caravan”, and Benny Russell provides warm sax on “Boo’s Blues”. We also enjoyed the relaxed “Sisters” as Oriana has many moods.
