O’s Notes: There’s nothing better than Young Lions playing fresh, modern jazz at a blistering place. Anthony Hervey serves up a wealth of good music on Words From My Horn, his debut performance produced by Ulysses Owens Jr. Pianists Isaiah J. Thompson and Sean Mason, bassist Philip Norris, saxophonist Sarah Hanahan, and drummer Miguel Russell flesh out the band. They cook on all fronts! It’s not all break-neck pace as evidenced on the midtempo “Afro Power” and “The Glider”. Hervey is off to a great start.
