O’s Notes: Brian Bromberg is a prolific bassist on both contemporary and traditional jazz genres. LaFaro is tilted towards modern jazz, dedicated to the late, great bassist Scott LaFaro. Bromberg teams up with pianist Tom Zink and drummer Charles Ruggiero in his 28th album as a leader. Brian splits the melodies with Zink, and they glimmer in the lights on tunes like “Waltz For Debbie”. We enjoyed the ballads, notably “Blue In Green”, again featuring Zink, and classics like “Milestones” with solos all around. It’s a worthy dedication to LaFaro!
