O’s Notes: German pianist, composer Julia Hülsmann leads a quartet with Uli Kempendorff (t-sax), Marc Muellbauer (b) and Heinrich Köbberling (d) for her latest release Under The Surface. Each of the members contribute original works to the session along with guest artist Hildegunn Ølseth (t, goat horn), adding to the variety of sounds. “They Stumble, They Walk”, “Anti Fragile”, and “Trick” are standouts.
