O’s Notes: American jazz pianist and co-producer David Kikoski leads a polished quartet with Randy Brecker (t), Joe Martin (b) and Billy Hart (d) in a Weekend at Smalls. They open swinging hard on “Winnie’s Garden “, get creative on “There’s A Mingus A Monk Us”, mellow on “Presage”, and “Moontide” featuring Brecker. We also enjoyed “Straight No Chaser”. This is premium straight-ahead jazz!
