O’s Notes: Veteran pianist, B-3 master Tony Thomas is one of Memphis’ best representatives of that city’s signature sound. Guitarist Charlton Johnson, and drummer Ken Coomer round out his trio. They take an old school approach that resonates well in today’s musical landscape. We enjoyed the simmering, soulful take of “You Make My Dreams Come True”, and “Bad Moon Rising”. They finish with “Falling Upward” featuring saxophonist Kirk Whalum.
