O’s Notes: The time: 1949-1960; the mood: blue romance; the singer: Dinah Washington! She recorded a solid string of hits at Mercury Records, twelve of which are included here. “What A Difference A Day Makes”, “This Bitter Earth”, “You Don’t Know What Love Is” and “ A Rockin’ Good Way” are several of the best that display her signature vocals on ballads, blues, pop and R&B sound. This is an excellent sampling of the Queen of the Blues.
