O’s Notes: Althea freshens up the smooth contemporary jazz scene with her flute-led melodies. Her wispy sound is soothing on top of a series of infectious rhythms. The pace is varied and there are also a few vocals scattered among the ten songs. Yes, René sings as well with a soft voice that mimics the sound of her flute. She also plays the instruments on this session. We liked “More Than You Know” and the instrumental, “Campari Juice”. There’s also some dazzling piano work on “Number One”. This is a balanced session that fits it nicely to a relaxing evening or after work wind down.
