O’s Notes: The Cohens are a talented family: Avishai (t), Anat (t sax, cl) and Yuval (s sax). Braid places them together on the marquis along with Aaron Goldberg (p), Omer Avital (b) and Eric Harland (d). They jump right into a strong vibe with “Navad”, the opener followed by the soothing tones of “Gigi et Amelie”. The blistering pace of “Freedom” offered opportunities for the headliners to explode! The Cohens layer their horns across melodies throughout the set balanced by a polished rhythm section. Whether the pace is tepid or relaxed, the case is well stated.
