O’s Notes: The Brussels Jazz Orchestra provides a solid foundation for vocalists David Linx and Maria Joao. They sing lyrics and vocalese for the music of Porgy & Bess. The arrangements are unique imparting a fresh sense to common music. We liked the mysterious groove on “My Man Is Gone Now”; “I Got Plenty of Nuttin'” with excellent brass work and “A Woman Is a Sometime Thing”. A Different Porgy & Another Bess is true to the title.
