O’s Notes: Guitarist Joshua Breakstone teams up with two fine French musicians: drummer Joel Allouche and bassist Louis Petrucciani, brother of the late pianist, Michel. The program is all originals, some new, some rearrangements of earlier work. Breakstone shines on the burners where he has great technique. We like the title track, a burner, which sets the pace for most of the session. But they also play a few ballads like “Tomorrows Hours” that are very relaxing and Joshua adds a couple of solos, most notably “Chanson de Cevennes” a dedication to women. Our favorite is “Sittin’ on the Thing with Ming” the title track from his 1993 recording. It’s a good balanced session.
