O’s Notes: Barcelona born pianist Marina Albero currently resides in Seattle but her Spanish roots are prevalent on A Life Soundtrack. This 3-disc album is a heavily syncopated, Latin endeavor complete with a full dollop of percussion. The first disc Albero, is mostly Albero originals notably ”Cardamomo”, “Indian Jam” and “Agartha” with a taste of rap! Disc 2, Agua has nine freely improvised compositions. Six are solo piano and three include saxophonist Hans Teuber notably “Nana Del Mar”. They are refreshing works of art. Music Is Love is the 3rd disc, a combination of originals and uniquely arranged standards including a few Seattle-based musicians. The collection is appropriately compartmentalized for entertainment in different settings.
