O’s Notes: Pianist Samuel Blaser assembles a band with Joachim Badenhorst (reeds), Drew Gress (b), Russ Lossing and Gerry Hemingway (d). Two French composers from the medieval period inspire the music: Guillaume de Machaut and Guillaume Dufay. The result is a true jazz transformation (mellow free fusion) incorporating heavy doses of improvisation on the original themes. It is a daring approach over eleven selections that will appeal to a select audience.
