O’s Notes: Guitarist Sheryl Bailey steps out in front of a big band, a marriage that began when producer Marty Ashby heard her playing at the 55 Bar in New York. The big band is the Three Rivers Orchestra directed by Steve Hawk (t) and Mike Tomaro (sax) who also arranged most of the music. The program includes seven covers of jazz and pop classics surrounding the title track, an original by Bailey underscoring her commitment to surface and continue promoting the music of Emily Remler. Indeed the 3 Remler compositions are among the best! Sheryl works well with the large ensemble and displays a wealth of talent as she breezes through many fleeting changes. The music is fresh and friendly typified by “Mocha Spice”.
