O’s Notes: Israeli guitarist and composer Rotem Sivan impressed us with his last trio release For Emotional Use Only. He returns with bassist Haggai Cohen Milo and a new drummer, Colin Stranahan for A New Dance. They are a tight unit supplemented by guest vocalist Daniel Wright on “Almond Tree” and tenor saxophonist Oded Tzur on “I Fall In Love Too Easily”. Seven of the ten selections are originals notably “Sun & Stars” and the title track. The dominant theme is dark on, a different approach the last album as Sivan expands his pallet.
