O’s Notes: The late Etta Jones was a bluesy jazz singer that made memories for many fans. She flew from Chicago to Baltimore for one show at the Left Bank then flew right back for her next show with Gene Ammons in Chicago! This is a live recording with the Cedar Walton (p) trio including Sam Jones (b) and Billy Higgins (d) on February 27, 1972. Jones is having a ball and the mood spills into the audience. There’s a great shot of Etta circa 1970 on the liner notes, a rather comprehensive documentation of the event, the venue and the lady, Etta Jones, a must have for fans.
