O’s Notes: John stands out as the headliner on piano in this trio with Dave Green (g) and Steve Brown (d). He swings effortlessly, dancing across the keys with a smile. The tunes cut across a window jazz spectrum including work by Coltrane and Monk as well as more traditional standards from Ellington and Powell. It was recorded in London at the Pizza Express without an audience. The ambience is there, all captured and bundled into this excellent set.
