O’s Notes: Trumpeter and composer Skore Floe is highly recognized and educated, receiving his bachelors degree studying under John Harbaugh at Central Washington University. He then spent two years studying at the Institute of Jazz in Graz, Austria under the tutelage of Jim Rotondi followed by a Masters in Jazz Studies at Indiana University. Now he’s honing his skills in New York where he released this debut recording in a quintet with Sean Imboden (t-sax), Steve Allee (p), Nick Tucker (b) and Chris Parker (d). Samantha Louise adds vocals on “Abstraction”, the sole vocal track in a sea of instrumentals. We liked the foundation and energy of “The Top Floor”, “Opinionated” and “Terrace”.
