O’s Notes: This is a live performance featuring a duo, Jacques Chanier on piano and Jeff Galindo. They are dabbling in free space mostly around Monk’s compositions. They do a fine job on with it especially on “I Mean You” and “Ask Me Now”. They change directions a bit on Ellington’s “Caravan” and Rollins’ “Oleo” moving to more of a straight-ahead groove. We never really felt the need for more musicians as this proved to be a satisfactory experience.
