O’s Notes: Danilo has become a consummate jazz pianist and this release underscores his strengths. He starts by selecting world-class accompaniment including Christian McBride (b), Lewis Nash (d) and Luis Quintero (perc). The other element of genius is the inclusion of an orchestra with rich strings conducted by Claus Ogerman. Guest artist Cassandra Wilson adds vocals on two tracks and venerable producer Tommy Lipuma brings it all together. The results are as good as we anticipated. This is a symphonic performance to embellish at home or in concert!
