O’s Notes: Jazz pianist and vocalist Omar Sosa is among the most creative and inspirational musicians on the scene today. This album was recorded live at the Blue Note in New York. Sosa incorporated electronics, samples and a wealth of passion into the music. If you’ve ever experienced his concerts you come away enriched by his energetic performance. He appears with his sextet including Childo Tomas (b), Marque Gilmore (d), Leandro Saint-Hill (sax, fl), David Gilmore (g) and Roman Diaz (perc, congas). Tim Eriksen is the guest vocalist (banjo, violin) for the four featured vocal tracks. Our favorite is “Sugar Baby Blues”. Across The Divide is a musical history lesson illustrating the origins of American ancestry, dreams, pain, spirituality, reality and music. Once again Sosa succeeds in delivering a moving meaningful musical experience.
