O’s Notes: Pianist, Stern wrote a diverse group of swinging contemporary jazz fusion songs for Actual Size. The songs vary from the peaceful “Attila/Zolong” with Brazilian flavors to the syncopated “Salsicle” and “Leeway” with a bluesy New Orleans bounce. The beauty in this music is the exceptional harmonizing between the instruments especially on the vocal track, “New Rain”.
