O’s Notes: Composer and pianist Yelena Eckemoff assembles a sextet with Jarmo Saari (g, glass harp), Junkanoo Perko (sax), Panunzio Savolainen (vibes), Antti Lötjönen (b) and Olavi Louhivuori (d, perc). They are engaged in Adventures of the Wildflower. There is lots of curiosity dialed into “Germination” as a whole new world is in front of the budding seedlings. We enjoyed “Weeding the Garden”, the youthful adventures of “Home By The Fence” and the discovery of “Chickens”. And there are even more highlights on Disc 2! The liner notes are exceptional with photographs, stories and illustrations to accompany each selection.
