O’s Notes: After Carnival is the debut recording for Miami-based New World Beat. Vibraphonist Richard Sprince leads the way producing, mixing, arranging and composing most of the music with two Pat Metheny covers. The sound is reminiscent of early Yellowjackets on “Fantasia De Carnival”, a blend of fusion and world jazz. The sound grows on you with repeated listening. We expect to hear more from them in the future.
