O’s Notes: Irving Berlin, originally Israel Baline was one of America’s best composers. It was quite unlikely that a Jewish Russian immigrant would rise to such fame but his story is true and it is wonderfully depicted here. They intermingle Berlin’s works with biographical narrative. His music is his experiences and this sketch is well executed by Mark and KT.
