O’s Notes: Tyler Kaneshiro is a San Francisco based trumpeter/composer who has performed globally and leads his band The Highlands. Amber of the Moment is his debut as a leader, co-produced with Stefon Harris. The music is a mild jazz-fusion that places Kaneshiro center stage with strong support from Chad Lefkowitz-Brown on tenor sax and guitarist Keisuke Matsuno. We enjoyed the mellow tones of “Holocene” and “Time That Never Was” best of the nine selections.
