O’s Notes: Pianist Brian Fielding leads a quartet with Mike Lee on sax, bassist Andy McKee and Ali Jackson on drums. While Brian, Andy and Mike had played together many times, the quartet with Jackson had only one reversal under their belts prior to the recording session yet they sound as if they have been playing together for many years. The program is all original tunes by Fielding with opportunities for each musician to surface and they sparkle when called upon! We enjoyed the swinging title track and varied pace throughout the session with Lee leading most of the melodies. Jackson summed up his contribution as one where he attempts to make An Appropriate Response to each of his fellow band mates. Indeed he does helping Fielding make this a super set!
