O’s Notes: Brad (p) came onto the scene as a part of the Joshua Redman’s stellar quartet in 1994. Though he recorded his own session that same year, it wasn’t until 1997’s Art of the Trio series was that he established himself as a prominent leader. That trio with Larry Grenadier (b) and Jorge Rossy (d) has continued to grow together over the years. Anything Goes is a continuation of the trend as Mehldau continues to establish his voice. The program has ten newly arranged standards highlighted by “Smile” and Monk’s “Skippy”.
