Verve, 2002, CD
Instrument: FEMALE VOCAL
Jazz Ruler Type: Ballads, Blues
O’s Notes: Natalie is singing jazz ballads here, a return to her fine form of Unforgettable, again produced by Tommy LiPuma; and this one is as least as good! These thirteen songs are focused on the good times of Cole’s life. Her voice remains strong with heart felt warmth that conveys the emotion of the lyrics. This celebration is shared with an outstanding band including Joe Sample (p), Russell Malone (g) and Christian McBride (b). There is also a duet with Diana Krall who could find Natalie sharing the spotlight more often if she sticks with this format!
