O’s Notes: Ave B Collective is a leaderless band of five musicians dancing to their own spontaneous interactions in an apartment on New York’s lower East Side. There is no audience but a lot of shared energy. The band is Steve Tintweiss (b), Warren Gale (t), Jacques Coursil (t), Laurence Cook(d) and the senior statesman of the group Perry Robinson (b-cl). It is aggressive free jazz going in multiple directions simultaneously, 21 tracks blending together seamlessly. Free Jam is a work of art for lovers of the genre.
