O’s Notes: Awakening Of A Capital is the latest release from Free Nelson MandoomJazz on Rare Noise. The band is a trio that started in Edinburgh, Scotland playing an experimental blend of doom metal and free jazz. As their name implies they are a tribute to freedom fighter, Nelson Mandela and their approach to music parallels his drive and courage. Rebecca Sneddon (sax), Colin Stewart (b) and Paul Archibald (d) have evolved with each release. Their music is all-original and they call it doom jazz. It is not for the faint of heart as they cross the boundaries in many cases.
