O’s Notes: Brazilian pianist Anne Sajdera makes her debut recording with a core trio that includes Gary Brown on bass and drummer Paul Van Wageningen. They get help from guest percussionists Airto Moreira and Michael Spiro on several songs notably the title track. The program is mostly originals along with four well-placed standards. Sajdera marries western jazz with her native bossa nova for a laid back Latin groove that has a lot of well-tempered spices. “Sambinha” is a prime example. Brown takes the melody from time to time complimenting Anne’s seemingly effortless work on the keys. Azul is a mighty fine start that flows with many moods.
