O’s Notes: Socrates Garcia is from the Dominican Republic, a place that continues to inspire his music and spark wonderful memories. Back Home is an autobiographical sketch for Garcia, the arranger, composer and conductor for the work. He also plays guitar on the title track. The band is a large ensemble of talented musicians that produce vibrant Latin-infused jazz that is jovial, spirited and easy to enjoy. We enjoyed all seven selections especially the final three “Dominican Suite For Jazz Orchestra”.
