O’s Notes: This is a swinging set that is well described by its title: Ballads, Burners and Blues. The variety keeps the session light and entertaining. Clarinetist Vaché is joined by several friends including Dan Barrett (tb), Ed Polcer (cornet), Phil Flanigan (b) and Ed Metz Jr. (d). Allan even sings the lyrics on the opener “The Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives to Me”. They have a great time playing that extends to the listener.
