18th & Vine, 2007, CD
Instrument: Male Vocals
Jazz Ruler Type: Ballads, Blues
O’s Notes: Accapella is a beautiful art form and Sitson is one of the masters. Bamisphere also includes some deep percussion and serious beats complements of Jeff “Tain” Watts (d). Helio Alves plays piano and bass duty is split between Essiet Okon Essiet and Ron Carter. These musicians are well suited to Sitson’s musical genius. Gino is proud of his African roots and brings them into jazz space speaking through the music, scats and rhythms. We particularly enjoyed “Todeu” and “Bye” in a strong set.
