ZC Records, 2007, CD
Instrument: Female Vocals
Jazz Ruler Type: Ballads, Blues
O’s Notes: Barb has a soft voice that’s loaded with details. You can hear this from the opener “King of the Road” through “Song For Dan”. There are fifteen songs, a combination of covers of top popular songs and a half dozen originals. The accompaniment is minimal, only piano from Russell Churney who also collaborated on the originals and arrangements. Barb adds gentle vibrato heightening the drama on “Au Depart”. She gives us a peek into southern blues with “Me & Bobby McGee”. This set is suitable for a lonely afternoon, soft background or just enjoying the moments.
