O’s Notes: Carol is yet another example of great music and musicians emanating north of the border. Joni Mitchell’s title track defines the mood of the session. It is contemporary, easy flowing and jazzy. The fresh arrangements come from pianist Brian Dickinson, Rick Wilkins, Paul Keller and Brian Wray. Guitarist Lorne Lofsky and saxophonist Chris Robinson are among the stellar cast that help McCartney bring home a cool combination of instrumental excellent and warm, swinging lyrics.
