O’s Notes: Mr. Chair is a jazz-fusion ensemble of classically trained musicians that lean towards a progressive rock, jazz-fusion blend for Better Days. They are Ben Ferris (b), José Guzmán (g), Mark Hetzler (tb), Mike Koszewski (d), Jason Kutz (keyboards) and Eddie Barbash (a-sax). We enjoyed the warm ballads like “Elegy “, the sense of desperation on “Fuchsia”, first with spoken word by Buzz Kemper, and later featuring Barbash on sax. Those songs contrast with the sadness of “Abandoned Cities”.
