O’s Notes: This is a fun recording. Hiromi duels with guitarist David Fiuczynski on “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise” one of several strong interactions during this session. They race through “Caravan” with the Latin spices accentuated by drummer Martin Valihora who contributes a crisp solo. Bassist Tony Grey is featured on “Ue Wo Muite Aruko”. The fresh cover of “My Favorite Things” contrasts with Hiromi’s version of Jeff Beck’s “Led Boots”. Both are reshaped while maintaining the original theme. All of the different songs are connected in a fusion collage of sound that lends another star to Hiromi’s collection.
