O’s Notes: Trumpeter Avishai Cohen leads his quintet, Big Vicious with Uzi Ramirez (g), Yonatan Albalek (g, b), Aviv Cohen (d) and Ziv Ravitz (d, sampling). Cohen repatriated back to Israel and has been reshaping his music. This is an eclectic outing with a futuristic vibe across most of the eleven selections. There’s a taste of light rock-fusion on “King Kutner” and a bouncy groove on “This Time It’s Different” before the mesmerizing finale, “Intent”. Avishai continues to extend his horizons.
