O’s Notes: This eclectic mix of jazz-fusion is fresh and invigorating. Saxophone player Rudesh Mahanthappa takes the melodies in multiple directions on top of syncopated beats that hold the tunes together. Pianist Vijay Iyer also adds a nice dose on improvisation rounding out this promising debut.
