O’s Notes: This duo needs no introduction. Pianist Benny Green and guitarist Russell Malone are well respected on the jazz scene. Bluebird gives us a chance to hear them together. They are fully warmed up by the second track, “It’s Alright With Me” where they take turns playing the melody at a blistering pace. Russell and Benny show their versatility playing ballads, “Feel Like Makin’ Love”, relaxed blues on “Moonglow” and funky blues like “Love For Sale”. Excellent technique + good music leads to a satisfying set.
