O’s Notes: 81-year-old drummer Bobby Kapp commissioned pianist Richard Sussman to write the music for Synergy and assembled a fine band to perform it. Aaron Irwin (cl, b-cl), Abraham Burton (t-sax), John Clark (French horn), and Zach Brock (violin) are out front with Harvie S (b), Sussman, and Kapp keeping the rhythms tight. Among the best are “Tweed Boulevard”, the swinging “Infinite Mobility”, “Inner Space”, and “Trance Dance” featuring Irwin and Brock.
