O’s Notes: Raquel sings twelve French-Latin boleros, the music of many Spanish composers and popularized by legendary French heartthrob Tino Rossi. Bolero was originated in Santiago, Cuba and has spread around the world from there as a wonderful expression of romance. Bitton does a fine job with her interpretations backed by an orchestra conducted by pianist Rebecca Mauleon with arrangements by Bob Holloway. Among the best are “Dos Almas”, “Cenizas” and the most popular bolero “Besame mucho”.
